You might be able to get a Gertboard kit from someone who's decided to wait for an assembled one. Check this ele ment14 discussion.

Gertboard FAQ at Element14 Community:
Updated 22 October 2012 18:32 GMT

Q. Why is the Gertboard Kit now unavailable?

A. Thank you for your interest in the Gertboard Kit. Due to overwhelming popularity, we have sold out and will no longer be accepting orders for the Gertboard Kit.

However, we will have new and exclusive products coming very soon. We will announce it on the Community as products become available.

We will also be launching a few new groups to help you with your Raspberry Pi builds. So stay tuned.
It looks like I will be buying more products from the accursed Element14.

BTW the Element14 professional Raspberry Pi case is in a disgusting raspberry pink. However, it can be used with or without case screws which makes it possible to install and remove the GPIO ribbon cable with ease. It comes with 'light pipes' (clear plastic components) that pipe the LED light to the indicator slots.

My other favourite is from ModMyPi, but the top of the case has a knockout for GPIO access which looks unsightly when knocked out and I had to manufacture my own light pipes using a piece of acrylic sheet (Perspex) with sawn slots divided by black tape for each LED.

The other case I like is the Maplin 'rainbow' case formed from laser cut acrylic sheet layers in multiple colours. The top is clear which shows off the board and the LEDs. It has a tidy slot for the GPIO cable, but the four securing screws need to be removed together with the top couple of layers in order to install and uninstall the GPIO header cable. Since I have quality cases for all my Pis, I will probably buy only one, once they are back in stock.

Ian Al
Software Patents: It's the disclosed functions in the patent, stupid!
