:-)
As has been pointed out elsewhere, IF contempt of court happens in a UK court,
the consequences tend to be PERSONALLY painful. That's why it rarely happens.
A story told to me by a lawyer friend ... his *first* *hand* experience ... in
court a solicitor's socks began to play "Jingle Bells" or some such.
The poor solicitor struggled desperately to stop them, then quaked as he turned
to the Judge. The Judge laughed it off and the courtroom relaxed, but the
incident had got everyone tense.
Would YOU do something contemptuous in that environment? People behaving
rationallty do things they think they'll get away with. They don't do things
with negative payback. (I know a lot of people do stupid things - either they
aren't thinking and aren't rational or, more often actually, they are behaving
perfectly rationally based on different information.)
Cheers,
