...but they go on and on. You may respond to a post in
one thread and they
will just repeat the their message way
down further in the discussions, often
just rephrasing the
same meme. They will also use a sock puppet, with one
puppet
doing the troll post and the other responding to the
response it got
with "You can't call that guy a troll, just
because he has a contrary opinion!"
after the accusation.
That is why we need somebody on point, looking at where
these posts are coming from, though of course the trolls can
use different
routes to make their posts.
I don't think there is any point in
responding to them.
Certainly they will not be moved by the response, because
they are not in a dialog. They are on a mission. The
response only matters to
the extend of strategy for the next
post. That's the thing - we respond like we
are talking to a
rational human being, but these trolls have a very different
agenda, and view the discussion from a completely different
frame of
reference. In fact, to them it is not a discussion
- it is a target for their
