The comparison was to the Penn State administration, which has such a splendid
record of "investigations" ferreting out a complete lack of evidence
of the most blatant wrongdoing possible--Sandusky is precisely the case to
mention. It was Mann, after all, who brought up the P.U.
"investigation" that "cleared" him.

And in this context, perhaps National Review could have said something like
"If Himmler had tenure at Penn State, he'd still be Director of Jewish
Relations"

Well, not if you take your information about climate science from, well, climate scientists...

Sure, the handle isn't dead straight. And the blade is a bit wobbly. But the gist is still the same...

Don't take my word for it. Try the National Academy of Science, for starters...

And with regard to the alleged defamation - well, IANAL, but the way the Sandusky references were woven into those articles sure seemed a deliberate attempt to conflate the issues to me, and engender an association in the mind of the reader between Mann and Sandusky.
