I did much the same thing at Canada Computers near Ottawa. I went to buy all the
components, intending to assemble it myself. They offered to assemble and test
it for an extra $49, and gave me a one-year warranty. They knew I was going to
run Linux. It has been solid for 13 months now.

I build my own desktops, but...

I cant build a laptop or a tablet from parts. The Tiger
Direct, or rather the CompUSA (it used to be Tiger Direct but
now they own the CompUSA name) in Orland Park is closer to me
than Naperville. :)
