I already talked about how Judge Koh
kept speaking in singular, rather than plural. For the question about
lawsuits, she was clearly speaking in singular:THE NEXT QUESTION IS,
HAVE YOU OR A
FAMILY MEMBER OR SOMEONE VERY CLOSE TO YOU EVER
BEEN INVOLVED IN A
LAWSUIT, EITHER AS A PLAINTIFF,
A DEFENDANT, OR AS A
WITNESS? Speaking in singular implies that she only is interested in
if it happened at least once. If she was interested in every lawsuit, why didn't
she say, "...ever been involved in any lawsuits?" In normal conversational
language (what the prospective jurors would understand), the latter be more
likely to encourage people to talk about all of the lawsuits. The way she said
asked it, one example would seem to be enough to satisfy her.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
