Hook Android HDMI "Sticks" dock to ANY screen device (example Pixel Qi tablet/netbook design)?
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, October 21 2012 @ 11:28 AM EDT
As, again, these Android Sticks
http://liliputing.com/2012/10/mk802-iii-mini-pc-rk3066-dual- core-cpu- and-android-4-1.html
...are out there with an HDMI connector, and when they have a microphone and camera ability (for video chat, then, who knows what will happen next)?

So, with Pixel Qi in mind... let us do some math.
Pixel Qi + Android Stick with HDMI port = what?
Answer: Creative screen devices, as "power supply and battery holding shells" with an HDMI port, just waiting for any Android, Chrome OS, Linux, Windows, BSD Unix, etc "HDMI stick" of choice.

Allowing the geeks/users to match up the Arm, x86 based, or other CPU "stick with HDMI" to that shell (as a dock to a mobile device with computing provided by the stick itself). Who would need dual boot, just plug in another stick with another OS (Linux, Windows, BSD, Android, whatever)?

Again... Again, 7 inch, or 10.1 inch, Pixel Qi screen, or whatever the buyer wants,

...that is JUST A SCREEN DEVICE (with AA battery as Edubook folks were onto something that geeks all over would love AS AN OPTION, but all kinds of combinations would be possible), ...that then you have a slot in the device of choice (tablet or netbook, or even full size laptop, TV or other monitor)... that you simply dock EITHER an ARM CPU stick (android) or a modern Linux friendly xcore-X86++ stick into, AS with USE CHOICE, then any CPU sticks will work (just need drivers for the OS, etc). So, simply by just plugging in it works. And if want to dual boot, user can switch one stick one, plug in another stick with another OS, or version of OS.

ALSO, user is then able to plug the same stick (again, ARM, Intel, other x86, "HDMI stick" into a full size HDMI monitor, OR a, HDMI TV? Or, choose to use whatever size that the touch screen is, or chose to use a normal HDMI screen without touch screen too (fully at the option of the user to match then to the desired screen to use).

Repeat - THE OS could be any version of LINUX, Android, or if x86 Microsoft (dpending)? Even Google's ChromeOS? Or, BSD UNIX, etc. Total choice of user, IF, the OS worked with the hardware on CPU stick?

Could be a tablet footprint you dock the stick to, or it could be a netbook footprint, or a laptop, or TV, etc that HDMI stick gets hooked up to?
Or, a smaller phone like device? OR....? Just imagine.

If the screen makers (like Pixel Qi) were to focus on Android Sticks, and have just the screen, and a few ports for external speakers, mic, USB Hosting, etc... just be with battery, power supply port, and a slot for Android Stick to go into, ...then, as well a port for video camera too, as well? Maker of screen docking device to stick, could supply internal speakers in the ANDROID STICK dock screen device (so, for example Pixel Qi, with 7 inch or 10.1 inch optional could do this, where user would have choice of adding a stick of their choice).

Of course, HDMI would supply sound to screen/speaker with battery or external power device... but, some might want to build own dock to then have use of a more advanced sound system to match up with (such as USB external powered mobile speaker to have better mobile sound).

Can use Xrandr trick to make 1024x600 screens seem like better resolution (and save battery power on mobile devices) as lower resolution, means less power use. BUT, in the end, need to contact the Linux team as they need to fix xorg (graphic parts) or something eles, in order to get that formerly used MOUSE JAIL-fix patch back into main Linux usage, ...as that MOUSE fix part of LINUX used to work where when using Xrandr, however they broke it during a LINUX upgrade a couple of years ago leaving the mouse pointer in a jail using the lesser resolution area only, thus needing a geek with Linux know-how to go find and apply the patch file. At one time it worked without a patch, but when Linux team upgraded video section, they forgot to put the resolution change ability patch into the stew, and even with postings on the list, still have not paid attention to do it (again, would allow lower resolution devices to appear to be higher resolution, and would SAVE battery power using this trick).

What do you think of this?

Problem with HDMI

is that it's proprietary, patented, bits of it even closed source until
you join the club and pay for a license with scary terms. Maybe
Google decided that wasn't worth their bother.
