Internet providers to begin warning customers who pirate content

If you are a customer of any Internet service provider that spies on you as you surf the Internet, why are you a customer? Look around to try to find an alternative, not because you want to break the law yourself, but because you don't want them to do it to you. Why would you ever agree to being treated like this? Seriously.
I agree with the sentiment but that can be easier said than done. As Lawrence Lessig told us, we in the U.S. do not have sufficient competition among broadband providers so that frequently choice of a provider is limited. For various reasons I won't go into I am still on dial-up. But nonsense such as this feeds into that decision.
