Ubuntu uses year-based version numbers so an Ubuntu 12 would
indeed be as recent as 2012. (I think there would be two
releases scheduled: 12.04 in the spring and 12.10 in the
autumn.)

Oh -- I wasn't meaning to imply a relation to the patent contents, only that
this patent, now, and the appearance/integration of the web within desktop
functionality (whether you like it or not -- I don't), seem to be aspects of a
certain development that I have now verbalized more or less here.
