Well, good luck to them trying that remotely for anyone with any sense. Secure
OSs are available for free these days.

Aren't they just asking for powers to do what they
already are doing? Wasn't there a story last week
or so about the German government doint exactly
that?

Dutch government gives itself the right to break into your computer and destroy it
Authored by: Wol on Friday, October 19 2012 @ 06:56 PM EDT
Reading the actual proposal, various people have accused Cory of going over the
top.

Firstly, a Judge's warrant is required (unlike they're angling for in certain
other jurisdictions ...)

Secondly, and I couldn't make this out for sure, I think a Judges warrant from
the same jurisdiction as the computer's location is required WHERE POSSIBLE.

So basically, point 2 says they have to go their Dutch judge and say "we
cannot geolocate our target computer, can we dispense with the other
warrant".

As I say, I could be wrong on point 2, but that seems to me perfectly
reasonable.

Cheers,
Wol
