But does it force that Unity gargage on you?

Each to his own. I'm not an expert by a long way or an old UNIX hand etc. I do
try other distro's a fair amount and came to Ubuntu some years ago after years
of struggling with RedHat, Fedrora, Suse, Mandriva and others. Couldn't get RPM
and YUM to behave the way APT does in particular with my messing around. I'm a
long time Smoothwall user and just venturing into PfSense to get dual WAN access
given the rubbish broadband here in a rural area and I'm in the process of
recovering a relatives laptop to have just put Mint Cinnamon on a USB stick so I
can install it as the laptops DVD drive is dead and it won't boot from an
external DVD drive. Looks okay but at first sight doesn't give me a big reason
to dump Ubuntu either. I'll play more later when I have time though.

I appreciate it is each to their own. The heat some bring to such choices does
surprise at times though.

Oh and see above for my view of Win8. Where the heat for and against on other
sites is pretty mad at times.

Richard.
