I do that by middle clicking in konqueror. See what
your browser does with
middle click, and if you can
configure middle click or shift-alternate left
triple
click while cross-eyed to do what you want.
(I find automatic
open-in-another-tab annoying. It is
almost always what I want to do except for
the last
interesting link on a page.)

So, to save yourself a single click, you want to remove the
possibility of staying in the same window from those that wish to
do so?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

With most browers, you'll be able to "middle-click" instead: press
down on the mouse wheel, or (if you don't have one) the left and right mouse
buttons simultaneously, and the window should open in a new tab. (Alternatively,
hold down control while clicking, or shift while clicking if you'd prefer a new
window to a new tab.)
I think I use the middle button to open links much more often than I use the
left button, and so I get annoyed when I find a link that doesn't open in the
same window, as I can't use the middle/left button distinction to choose where
it opens.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
