Your fix is better, for the reasons you noted. I just wanted to draw attention
to the missing words, which gave the sentence a different (wrong) meaning. Now
its good.

By the way, this article is another great piece of writing from you, I enjoyed
it a lot. You've approached "Software is Math" from a couple of
different angles now, and I think for non-computer-scientist readers, this piece
is probably the clearest and easiest to understand. Its also potentially useful
to lawyers and judges, to help them understand what software really is (and what
it isn't), but only if someone can convince them to read it!
