Wow! Just Wow! With this, and the Rolex importation lawsuit,
when did copyright give these IP owners a license to
micromanage every interaction with their product until the
end of time? Is there more to this issue than retaining
control past the allowable limit that culture has developed
over the last 25 centuries?
This is a sale. The IP owner's interests in non-copying
activities are shut down right there. Transporting goods
from all over the world is here to stay. That is why so
many manufacturing jobs end up in China.
Global access to labor.
Global access to capital.
Global access to raw materials.
Local markets ... what's not to like about that?
You think software patents are a mess? Those disputes are
between companies. This copyright attack can go everywhere.
Lawyers will love it. Everyone will be guilty. Judges will
love it, think of all the justice that can be handed out.
Politicians will love it, constructing laws to protect the
IP owners rights while trying to keep the unwashed masses
quiet. A win-win-win all over.

If Wiley want to control the market for their product, they should
have some rights so to do. But twisting Copyright isn't the right way.
In my country there is a limit to the amount of personal imports.
Exceed that and you are deemed an importer, thus subject to
different tax regimes.

A way to close down ebay for good, all charity shops, school bazaars, yard sales
...
Oh and it will slash of sales of new stuff too, with no way to make any money
back on your old gadget you have to wait longer, so the Fanbois won't have to
worry about looking out-of-date, everybody will be.
And of course there will be no new US exports, who's gonna buy a Boeing for
their airline if other countries retaliate?
Really good to see people thinking things through ...
