I was starting to suspect that lawyers might tire like I am of being
given lectures in binary arithmetic or MOS gate physics. The real
demonstration they need is the difference (if any) between the
computer file Foo.doc and the computer file Word.exe; or the
difference (if any) between the computer file Foo.doc as it exists
on their hard drive, the human readable representation on the
computer monitor screen of Foo.doc, and the pages of the
document than come out of their printer, can be signed and
given to a judge.
Understanding this simple(!) example should hopefully help
them to understand the landmark cases that keep being cited
in support of the unsupportable. And as another poster way above
noted, it -must- be structured as a legal document that lawyers can read.
