Actually I would say that this is pretty much a 30 year old generalization
covering US cars.
There are still examples that can be picked, but for the most part the day of
the soft sprung, wallowing living room, upholstered like a bordello has long
gone.
My 1970's Lincoln Town Car with salvaged police car suspension and brakes was
actually quite predictable and a lot of fun. Prior to those modifications it
pretty much fit your American car stereotype.
Now the Renault 16 was cool in its way, but would wallow worse than anything I
can remember when pushed beyond its happy place.
I used to be somewhat of an auto enthusiast, now I view them as money sucking
appliances.
