My first thought was that they should.

However, I think it would be difficult for a United Nations specialized agency to be seen to involve themselves in a national legal issue. They have legal advice within the organisation, but I don't think they have the remit to retain US lawyers for such a purpose using the funds from international governments.

I, also, remembered the appalling amicus brief submitted by the IEEE in a previous major US patent case (Professor Hollaar's Amicus Brief in Bilski). I don't want anything from that organisation put before the court.
