And you have to start doing something more useful for society
instead.
Start doing? I had to stop doing
something that was useful to society during the Reagan depression and start
doing something that would put food on the table. I didn't even intend to
become a patent attorney, but I was shoehorned into that position by age
discrimination and prejudice -- not to mention the exportation of jobs overseas
and the flooding of the market with H1-B visas by companies that kept screaming
"SHORTAGE" when, in fact, the only shortage was caused by their unwillingness to
pay U.S. salaries in the United States.
And there is no proportionality of
reward for the usefulness of your job to society. If you think there is, you
are living in la-la land. Forgetting about private companies that may profit
from war, we can't even provide a decent life for hard-working veterans who gave
years of their lives in service to this country. And just this month, the IEEE
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), which has its home office
in New Jersey, published an interview suggesting consideration of North Korea
(!!!) as a country to which companies should consider outsourcing their IT work.
What's that all about?
No, methinks that you should check your
personal secondary memory storage unit. I can recommend a certain Unix file
system checking program that you can use on yourself.
