Hyperthreading is an abstract concept--not patentable.

Direct-support of hyperthreading in the hardware is a machine improvement--a
particular way of connecting registers together on a silicon substrate
(patentable).

Different way of connecting registers together to achieve a similar result --
workaround to the first patent, and patentable in its own right.

Sorry, but it's still math (Boolean) as it all boils down to
(somewhat complex) combinations of NAND gates. And since
that's the basic element, everything built from them is also
Boolean logic (although complex.) And Boolean logic is all
math.
