Even if I would object to each and every policy of Mrs Gillard (which is quite
possible), I would still admire the speech.
That is the hallmark of a great speech.
Btw, hypocrisy has been ridiculed since ancient Greek times. By adherents of
every political and religious creed. So, I assume the speech was not political.

Yes.. its just a shame that the reason she had to do it was
because she got caught backing someone she new was dodgy to
get a leg over on the opposition. When the massive sexist
scumbag comments this man Julia backed came to light she
needed damage control badly. That speech was it.
This is especially important because she sicked all the
female members of her party onto the opposition leader to
accuse the married father of three girls of being sexist and
having problems with women. That was obviously a
fabrication, however the conduct of her man peter slipper
that she put in place as speaker of Parliament was proven
and confessed. He was a sexist pig who sent really sexist
nasty emails to his male colleagues about the women he was
meeting.
So yes, I believe she got hoisted on her own petard
Great speech writers though. She may win votes even though
she was dreadfully wrong.
Cheers
