This was my immediate reaction, too - David Boies may be in a better
position to take on MS over anti-competitive practices than any other lawyer in
the country!
I think this was a very sound move on
Novell's
part, and indicates that they're in it to win it. --- I'm a
pragmatist, not a zealot - I didn't come here for a sermon. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

The world doesn't know who owns Attachmate, and therefore
Novell. It could be
a puppet, and Bois and company are to lie
down.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

As far as I know, mr. Boies is an expert in handling juries. As Novell almost
convinced the entire jury last time, having Boies present it in retrial (if it
comes to that) may make a difference.
Also having mr. Boies working for Microsoft may be a great nuisance. So it could
be defensive hiring (like defensive patenting) as well.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
