Refutation or retaliation?

But he brought it upon himself by saying things like "they want to send a message about patents", he wanted to punish and it will not be a slap on the wrist.

He "brought it upon himself"? Are we talking about refutation here or about retaliation?

The former is what Groklaw is supposed to be about. The latter is what its enemies classify as its focus. Do we really want to prove them right?
