EE is a merger of Orange and T-Mobile, and Vodafone and O2 have merged their
networks into one operating company while remaining separate retailers, so that
should halve the number of cell-sites needed. LTE also has a wider coverage
area and supports more attached clients so that may help too, but only
eventually once the older networks phase out.
