It is very, very clear from standard instructions from the judge that it is the potential juror's responsibility to disclose any personal bias, any connections and/or any experiences that would interfere with their ability to be impartial. It is solely and only Hogan's responsibility to disclose this information not anyone else's responsibility to pry it out of him like some game show.

All these comments blaming the judge or Samsung's lawyers because Hogan failed in his responsibility to disclose are wrong. Hogan was required by the court to disclose this information and he failed to do so -- accidentally or on purpose makes no difference. He knew (and only he knew) of his bias and he did not disclose it.
