To make matters worse, she was a Christian iirc (mentally handicapped, too).

But it's the classic "outsider" thing. Coming from a society with
different values, she was targetted for offending a different people who just
happened to share the same village.

But that isn't restricted to Pakistan - there's quite a lot of the same sort of
thing in the UK. Where we Brits aren't allowed to be British "for fear of
offending the immigrants". I don't give a monkeys what aliens do over here,
provided they abide by our laws (if they don't want to, they shouldn't have come
here). It's when they expect ME to change for their sake I get offended.

Of course, the funny thing is, it's rarely them that want me to change. The
people demanding I change are *other* *brits* speaking (without their agreement)
on their behalf!

Same problem. Different manifestation.
