Could this have repercussions on the jury foreman

I entirely agree with you. In fact, if his statements help Samsung
overturn the verdict, I will be eternally grateful. I was just making a joke
with my wierd sense of humour. I guess I should have ended it with a
smiley so people would know I was joking.

While it is obviously ridiculous to send a juror to state sponsored torture I'm
not convinced he actually did his best at coming to a fair/the proper verdict.
Specifically it seemed to me that he tried to come to a verdict as quickly as
possible instead of spending his time to think about it.

How about if it had been a murder trial with a death penalty?

It seems doubtful he honestly tried to do "his best". I agree
with other posters who point out he spent far too little time
actually thinking about his actual job in examining the facts
and remaining impartial. It seems even HE didn't think he was
impartial.

I also have to disagree with the idea that he "honestly
tried to do his best." After all, in interviews he said that
until he "explained" things, it looked like it was going
Samsung's way.

That sounds to me like he had his own idea of how it should
go (based on his own experience) and persuaded the jury to
go his way. Not by using the law (and evidence) as the court
stated it, but by using his own experience and knowledge.

At the very least, he shouldn't ever be allowed to sit on a
jury again. But, since there's a strong minority/or majority
who would want that for themselves (not having to sit on a
jury), I think he should be put in contempt of court--and
either fined or given 30 days to think about it. Not just
for his punishment, but for the next fool that considers it.

Have a great day:)
Patrick.
