And this line of discussion simply serves to demonstrate that you don't
understand the difference between a 'normal' patent and a design patent.

A design patent, despite it's name, is much more similar to a trademark, or
trade dress. It doesn't necessarily have to be new. It just has to be
distinctive within it's category.

An honest comparison of tablets that existed before the iPad was released shows
that the iPad's design was, indeed, distinctive within it's category. (And the
design patent covers more than just the rounded corners.) Remember, a design
patent isn't an 'or' list, it's an 'and' list.
