How about FairOS and FairBIOS as well?
Authored by: TiddlyPom on Friday, September 21 2012 @ 06:20 AM EDT
If we have to have FairSearch then how about FairOS - no pre-loading of either
Microsoft Windows or OS/X on personal computer hardware - real choice at last
for the consumer. Also how about FairBIOS - always unlocked so that users can
install other operating systems on whatever hardware they want - including Apple
iPad Tablets and Microsoft Windows RT Tablets.

No I thought not - it's as likely to happen as "FairSearch" is about
fair consumer choice of search engines. What these companies want is COMPLETE
LOCK IN not fairness.

Support Software Freedom - use GPL licenced software like Linux and LibreOffice
instead of proprietary software like Microsoft Windows/Office or Apple OS/X

FairSearch Statement on Allegro Group, Nokia and Oracle Joining Coalition
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, September 21 2012 @ 11:49 AM EDT
When this whole Smartphone IP legal storm eventually sorts
itself out, I have a feeling that the players who have
approached the Smartphone from a computing background, with
IP in areas such as UI, productivity tools, etc. as compared
to those who have (or have acquired) telecommunications
related IP, are going to end up on the losing end.

At some point, the law will catch up to common sense and
either eliminate, or severely reduce the scope of software
patents. Telecomm patents are based on real invention.
