Well, not funny, really, but a little sad.
Here at work, I've had people complaining that their 3GHz
CPU laptops are "far too slow" for their work (which
consists mainly of using Word & Excel to produce documents
of one sort or another).
Most of them seem genuinely astounded when I tell them that
I'm using one of the old laptops the company "threw out" as
a home theatre PC, watching high-def video, playing games,
and making video calls. They ask how it could possibly be
fast enough for that sort of stuff.
I answer: I wiped the hard disk and installed Linux.
On the other hand - a "fresh" install of Windows also
performs much, much better than some of these work machines
do after a couple of years of use. 15-minute boot times
(until all of the background processes calm down and stop
chewing CPU time) are not uncommon.
Many people seem unaware that, for decent performance, you
really need to do a wipe & reinstall of Windows every year
