I wouldn't be surprised if this foreman says there is no need to treble the
damages because the jury has already raised the damages to be punitive enough.

An overwhelming presumption
obtains in favor of the
jury verdict. It even
prevails against post-verdict
statements of the jurors
themselves. The courts are
meant to produce a decision.
This decision can only
be disturbed by the court.
They have to look askance
at second-guessing ex-jurors.
Given the jury's short
shrift, their error, the
inadequate verdict form,
probably instructions, and the
foreman's
manifestations, the judge and
the Court of Appeals
will have to consider it all
before any hammer falls.
