Thanks for that link. I may be able to claim from the retailer (Tesco), if I can
find my proof of purchase. I will have a look for it. The new machine is
actually much nicer, and I have fitted 8GB RAM, so Windoze 7 runs tolerably
well. As the HD is 500 GB, it is going to be partitioned, and a REAL OS
installed, when I find time. There are so many thinks wrong with Windoze 7 that
I don't even know where to begin listing them, but its worst aspect is that it
wastes a ridiculous amount of screen area on useless gimmicks, like the way
folders are displayed in the poor apology for a file manager. Funnily enough,
as soon as the laptop was up and running, my router stated to accumulate lots of
attempted attacks on the Windoze file sharing ports in its log. THose ports have
of course been blocked ever since the router was first installed. I assume that
something leaks on another port somewhere which alerts every bit of malware in
the known universe to the existence of yet another Windoze security hole.... [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
