bugstomper: are comment threads being deleted?

the other corrections thread was started by someone who was
not logged in (anonymous) and as many people do not see these
posts (hide anonymous posts) it was removed

As feldegast said, the canonical threads such as Corrections are supposed to be
started by a non-Anonymous so that everyone can see them, including people who
choose to set their preferences not to show Anonymous posts.

When I saw that the Corrections thread had been started by an Anonymous I
started a new one and copied the one actual error that had been posted. I didn't
try to copy the whole thread about "had had" since 1) I could not copy
everyone's questions and replies, and 2) the thread made clear that it isn't an
error.

What I have noticed in the past is that often an empty Anonymous canonical
thread will be made to go away after the proper canonical thread is posted; If
there is significant content in the Anonymous version by the time the proper one
is posted then it usually is left in place. I guess in this case it seemed less
confusing to have just the one proper Corrections thread.
