I came across a 50-60 person group of football fans at the main train station
once.
Loud guteral shouts of club memes rang throughout the station hall.
That day it was football uniting them but it might have been easily have been
directed at any social grouping they disliked.
Utterly scary and revealing as to the thin line separating us from chaos.

The time when football fans were hated (The reason behind the Hillsborough cover-up)

Trouble is, as you will see if you read a bit more, is that if you treat decent
people like hooligans, they will become hooligans.

THAT is the lesson we need to learn, and that is why the police need to be
polite and civil. Who was the guy killed by a policeman in London during the
demos? Unprovoked assaults by American police seems to be the norm - there's no
way we want that sort of thing over here.

Police need training in what is and isn't acceptable - though from reading about
the Hillsborough report a lot of what happened shouldn't have needed moral
training to tell them it was wrong!

Cheers,
Wol
