The problem comes when people either try to stamp out experimentation or try to cram one...

Virginia Postrel:
"The problem comes when people either try to stamp out experimentation or
try to cram one possibly hare-brained scheme down everyone's throat".

Exactly - look around you see it everywhere (lawyers are built for this type of
battle)...!

Isn't that the theme of the day, where tech company after tech company is trying
to own it all, then cram their monopoly vision, or to take all your privacy as
their product, and cram it down out throats as our elected officials stand by
watching? Yep dem'politicians, working for tech, or movie industry, to please
their masters have jumped over themselves to enable extensions to copyright law,
create their own multi-headed monsters call em what you want: SIPA, SOPA, DIPA,
or DOODLE, ... all laws in whatever form, and with what ever name, that are
aimed only to get policitical contributions, at the expense of protecting
citizens first (where we citizens in the middle of the fight, only want
something that does not lock out the other half, and everyone to just get along,
and do what is right)???

Virginia Postrel says it all. And,
That, my dear friend... is stasis.
