Like Father - Like Son
Authored by: Anonymous on Thursday, September 06 2012 @ 01:51 PM EDT

Only the Son in this case has the intellectual awareness to know his father is willing to sacrifice the Son in order to achieve the father's own goals.

And the Son appears ever so willing to sacrifice himself.

That was so cool!

...that somebody noticed and called Nokia out on it. Poor Nokia - they must be feeling quite desperate about now. At this point sales of current Lumia versions will have come to a full stop, as by now everybody and their dog know that they were only beta testers for Microsoft/Nokia. They also understand these current Nokia phones will never be able to be upgraded the Windows 8, and will never run software developed for that.

Now Nokia has shown their new line up, and the markets immediately reacted by pushing down Nokia shares by 15% - as if they needed that on top of all their other problems with cash flow. This will make short-term borrowing costs all the higher, with their lousy credit rating. I doubt Elop sleeps very well at night, and is wishing he never burned the platform down.

Have you seen the new Nokia phones? Fischer Price all the way. The ugliest collection of saturated colours I have ever seen, especially that yellow one. ...but what else can you do given the the equally ugly Metro design? No wonder the markets reacted with a revulsive shudder.

[Apologies to Pink Floyd]
For Nokia Corp., the new phones are especially crucial. They're the first to run Windows Phone 8, and the Finnish company is hinging its turnaround strategy on an alliance with Microsoft. But the reveal fell flat with investors, as Nokia's stock plunged 16 percent on Wednesday.
...
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said the new phones will go on sale in the fourth quarter in "select markets." He didn't say what they would cost or which U.S. carriers would have them. AT&T Inc. and T-Mobile USA have been selling the earlier Lumia phones. Investors seem to have expected more specifics, or an earlier launch. Nokia shares fell 45 cents to $2.38 in New York.
No clicky, it's AP and PJ disagreed with their attitude to quoting. Besides my Google News search will have a user specific url that might not work for you.
