Sounds like Apple is asking for trouble.

Lucky for Apple, anyone who thinks like you will be removed from any jury on
this.

As I recall, the problem isn't safety, it's licensing of
transmission equipment. By definition, a cell phone (or any
other kind -- think police radar) jammer is a transmitter &
the FCC won't licence them, hence their use is illegal.

I note that the patented technology claims to be able to put
target devices into "airplane mode", ie switch off all RF
connectivity. It follows (unless I'm missing something) the
remote controller has at that point lost all control of the device.

Now I may not be the target demographic because I regularly
put my device in airplane mode when in theaters, and yes, airplanes.
I observe with some glee this does not stop me from some of the
activities which the patented technology is supposed to control.
I can still play loud music, have flashing colored lights on my screen,
take a movie of the cinema screen, or the police treatment of diassenters.
Further disclosing my demographic, I wear shirts with a pocket;
my phone/camera would stay running in the pocket, but it still takes
me three seconds to hot pull the SD card.
