... I didn't say you didn't have alternatives :)

I simply pointed out a reasonable use for it - if appropriately deployed.

From a security perspective - the more tools at your disposal to deploy, the stronger the security stack someone has to get through before they can do their nefarious deed.

On a far more facetious note - taking Apple's intentions as being honorable (and I have my doubts Apple can do that):

    I wonder how concerned Apple are that their devices are being used for Industrial Espionage to steal the oh so ppprreeeccioooussss inherent in Intellectual Property!
Wait... they haven't considered that, if they did, they'll have worked in a back door so they can still harvest images and such from phones that appear to be in the shut down state :)

Ok... I've definitely moved to goofy mode... I'll shut up now...

... or at least I'll try to!

You wouldn't. Apple are developing their own Warp engine
from plans they stole...
