Oracle is not news
Authored by: stegu on Wednesday, September 05 2012 @ 10:28 AM EDT
Judging from recent history, it seems that
Oracle was being spared from negative press
coverage, but that does not necessarily imply
bias. We should keep in mind that Oracle is
mostly unknown outside tech geek circles,
and they are probably not considered news.

Google, however, is very well known to
consumers, and anything sensational written
about them will attract hordes of readers.
And, sadly, "sensational" in the media
landscape of today almost invariably means
"negative".

It is interesting to compare this to the
coverage of Apple vs Samsung. A lot more
stories criticizing Apple could be found
in mainstream media, and they keep coming.

Well, it's not exactly a trade journal, but slashdot linked to this particular article, and has linked to the story in general. As has The Register. Which Larry reads :)

Don't know about trade journals but I did mention Groklaw to the writer of a
poorly written piece on Google, guess he didn't like me suggesting he read
Groklaw instead of FM, a short time later I was blocked from logging in, I'm
some what puzzled by so many who think that Google is very evil and can do no
right and think Verizon, Oracle and AT&T are pure and can do no wrong.
