The freshwater algae that form pond scum are actually
somewhat beneficial
forms of life, releasing oxygen into the
water during the daytime and providing
food for several
aquatic species. I do not think it is appropriate to liken
patent trolls to pond scum algae. It greatly exaggerates
their contribution to
civilization.
Maybe ticks, body lice, head lice or some other parasite
