Torvalds pours scorn on De Icaza's desktop claims
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, September 04 2012 @ 09:10 AM EDT
My knowledge of Linux is small. I can install and use it, not write it.

All I know about Linux desktop is that I can not do what my job or personal
usage require.

I have complained about this and received the same responds since the Red Hat 4
days always receiving the same responds either ignored or told to write the
applications myself.

I can not write the applications so I do what everyone else in my situation
does. I use MS Windows. That does not mean I like Windows. All it does mean is
that I have at least one critical application that has no counterpart except
Windows. So I use windows like it or not.

Once long ago I suggested a method of bringing certain sets of Windows users
into Linux and expanding the Linux user base. Those ideas were scorned and
ridiculed.

Today we now have trivial squabbles over the quality of the desktop which to the
average person seems ridiculous as there is no reason to use Linux in the first
place since one is unable to run critical programs except on Windows. Leaving
Windows as the only option.

Too bad as Linux is a better operating system which is totally useless to anyone
but a geek.
