You can already buy advanced gear in Asia that is not and may not be available
in the US. An occasional look at tech and consumer reports on NHK World TV is
instructive.

That is indeed a valid point, and it would be pefectly reasonable for a manufacturer such as Samsung or LG to be unable or unwilling to supply new technology to certain customers, especially if certain other customers, including some of their own businesses, were absorbing as many as they could produce.

So I have to agree that it is quite likely that new technology may not be available to Apple, who will have to face the consequences of their own disagreeable behaviour. Their products may well stagnate.
