Incorrect. No such collisions ever happened here. Commuter trains generally don't exceed 100 mph, the long disatnce ones, which would be much more prone to such accidents, generally run at 125 mph.

There was some research done in the 1970s, and a bit later, and new designs of train are tested passing at speed, but there has never been a collision. There may have been minor damage due to air pressure fluctuations, possibly even the odd window displaced from its frame, but that is all.

Every train accident in the UK is well documented somewhere, nowadays on the RAIB website, but they were always investigated and reported on in great detail prior to that, and invariably end up in the many books on the subject.

There were a couple of idiots killed in the early 1970s, in one accident. Both had stuck their heads out of windows and were looking backwards along their respective trains....

Recently there were a couple of incidents involving freight trains, one with a container with what was basically a loose side panel, and the other a covering on a tank which unpeeled, but they were nothing to do with speed or proximity of tracks, nor was any commuter train involved.
