That is, on my inherited iPad, I often have to magnify stuff so I can hit
individual characters when editing typing or don't have my glasses on. [Like
Jack Benny, I've celebrated more than one 39th birthday - grin]
If I can scroll off the right-hand side of the column and back to the left, my
"horizontal retrace" interval is eliminated or reduced, as is the loss
of continuity as I go back over the previous line.

According to The Sun(UK), Bruce
Willis is preparing to sue Apple over the terms and conditions of its iTunes
service.
The actor has collected a huge music library, and “wants to leave
the haul to his daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. But under iTunes’ current
terms and conditions, customers essentially only ‘borrow’ tracks rather than
owning them outright. So any music library amassed like that would be worthless
when the owner dies.”
Die harder, indeed!
Anthony Wing
Kosner, Forbes

I don't see much success for Willis (he knew -
or should have known - what he was paying for), but good luck anyway. It's kinda
like shareholders who buy nonvoting shares, then complain that they can't vote.
I'm sure opinions will vary. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I was in an ATT phone store, and started out by asking
a salesperson if anyone had ever mistaken a Samsung product
for an Apple one. He said no. I also explained to the
salesperson, my displeasure at Apples legal antics,
and also mentioned that I would never buy another Apple
product as a result. I asked him if he had heard this
before. He indicated "many times".[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Another "AMAZING" Apple
innovation. Apple just "REINVENTED" the game controller.

...It is called Russian Mobile Operating
System (RoMOS) and looks a lot like Android. However, it essentially takes out
the Google factor, making the OS secure from any data-gathering. In fact, the
developers of RoMOS cite that their software is hack-proof… a rather bold claim,
which is usually slippery. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Forget Android: the iPhone Is a Better
Phone for Hacking, Tweaking, and Customization
Sorry for shortening
the Subject: line. I've just spent several days upgrading my Huawei G300 from
2.3.6 to 4.0.3 using the rom supplied from the
factory. Local carriers are
supposed to have an OTA upgrade available later this month, but I didn't want
the carrier's bloatware, his lack of language
support, nor most of the Google
spyware. The first factory rom I tried had far too much Google fat, and
locale/language selection. Getting the
Chinese rom installed showed me the
Android hacking scene is not unlike the Hackintosh scene. So many people running
round in circles chasing
an ever expanding set of hardware and customisations.
Then I found the above article...

For the very first time since I started following Groklaw (2004 or before)
there's a headline posting which is closed to non-members.

If you need a good laugh, the press release and video are worth the minute or
two; these guys seem to be having a ridiculous amount of fun with the promotion.
I do keep waffling back and forth, though, since I generall try to keep my PC
free of the non-free. So, I'm not wild about software that enables non-free on
a decent system. At the same time, the ability could help wean some users away
from the duopoly. What are your thoughts?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
