Nice! Definitely prior art ... named iPAD too!

Can LG sue Apple? Not just for prior art, design AND
implementation ... but for the copyright and name as well??

And this blows the defenses Apple raised about other prior
art well out of the water - this seems to be an actual
working, full-blown implementation of a tablet way before
Apple's.

The Original iPad in 2001... from LG

I wonder how many actually shipped and sold? Bit difficult trying to find
that info now that Google is dazzled by the reflections of all the
rediscoveries of this story...

In other news LG "will supply" screens for the 7" mini iPad

Actually the Audrey predates both
Authored by: Anonymous on Saturday, September 01 2012 @ 09:39 PM EDT

The 3Com Audrey, with a touchscreen and keyboard came out in 2000.

But the EPod, is the granddaddy of them all and came out in 1999, and was out of business in 2000. It also had a touchscreen.

The Nokia N800 also came out in January of 2007, same time as the iPad. Not prior art, but just an example of apple was just one among many, and actually just following the pioneering work of the Dot.Com Bubble. The N800 was the successer to the N770 from 2005.

Lest we forget the Pepper Pad 3 (yes there was a 1 and 2 also) with touchscreen back in 2006: http://www.linuxfordevices.com/c/a/Linux-For-Device s-Articles/Device-Profile-Pepper-Pad-3-web-tablet/

I'm leaving out the other pads/internet appliances/tablets/etc that didn't have touchscreens. Notably a great many of these devices ran Linux.

That has a different processor, so it's not prior art, at least according to
that jury foreman. ;-)
