And we can not forget the Samsung f700, released by Samsung in February of 2007.
If you look at the image, it is very similar to the iPhone. If you look at the
dates of the f700 versus the iPhone there is no way that Samsung could have
copied the iPhone and released the F700. The F700 was released in February of
2007 and the iPhone was unveiled in January of 2007. A company does not design,
develop and manufacture a new phone in one month.
If the F700 had been allowed into evidence, I suspect that the outcome would
have been significantly different.
Samsung did not copy the rounded corners of the iPhone.
Apple is a niche player who are riding a huge wave of acceptance at this point
with extraordinary profits from each sale. It is almost like a cult following as
they have created a market for themselves. The key is sustainability of the
demand while also maintaining profitability. In the normal course of business,
prices will reduce as more competitors come not the market. What Apple is trying
to do is to significantly handicap the competitors and minimize / eliminate the
competition. I am afraid that the current course that Apple is on to manage the
market will fail and the overall demand for Apple products will begin to wan and
the overall value of Apple will drop.
