Necessity, the Mother of Invention
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, August 29 2012 @ 02:53 AM EDT
Yes, being forced to work around Evil Corp's patents will stimulate
innovation. But there's a rocky road ahead Grasshoppper. You will
have to patent your inventions. Harsh medicine for Open Sourcerers
who traditionally do not understand and therefore do not trust lawyers.
You must patent your invention to get it under the nose of USPTO.
This may cost money you don't have. Mere publication is not enough
as numerous recent cases have shown us. Evil Corp can hire a patent
attorney to turn your published description inside out and obtain a patent.
Yes, the truth may emerge on appeal, that will cost more of the money
you do not have. So long as the law and its interpretation remain
as they are now, the Open alliance will have to develop a warchest
of patents.

Right now another solution I'm thinking of involves sedition and treason.
