You might want to read up on Apple's chip design.
Here is some help:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Ax
Apple A5X: "dual ARM Cortex-A9 cores" "PowerVR SGX543MP4"
And Arm design (Arm not Apple) is up to version 15, used in many new phones.
PowerVR is designed by Imagination Technologies, Not Apple.
It is a VERY different thing to suggest chip feature implementations (which
Apple did) to actual chip design (which Apple did not).[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Well, you can see the attraction to parasitical companies, as LLVM is BSD-style
licensed. Big mistake. Why work, unpaid, for the likes of Apple and M$? As
of now, LLVM still seems to need the GCC front end. According to Wikipedia:
"in the cases where raw performance is benchmarked, LLVM 2.9 trails GCC 4.6.1 in
code quality (speed of the compiled programs) by about 10% on average, while
compiling 20-30% faster". Clearly not ready for serious use yet. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
