You are wrong. It's *never* about the players with
me. We are not saying Samsung is a hero.
It's about the law. Analyze a case based on what
a certain case will result in. That is how I
analyze them, and if I think it will affect Linux
or FOSS in a negative way, I tell you. It has
nothing to do with the parties. I actually have
always loved Apple as a company, and that was
one reason I used their products, because I
trusted them. Jobs was how he was, but he
was never the type to not care about users. He
did care. And that was why you didn't have
gratuitous invasion of privacy to make a buck
like with Microsoft.
He wanted users to love their products and enjoy
them, and I do. So if I were going to choose
based on which company I like, it would be
Apple in this scenario. But the effect of this
verdict is going to hurt FOSS. And it's just
the beginning. I would be delinquent not to
point it out.
Consider my record for getting things right, and
then ask yourself if maybe I just might be right
again. No one is perfect, but I have a solid
track record. And I think this verdict is the worst
thing that has happened in a very long time, from
a legal perspective that maybe you don't see yet.
But I see it, and I will speak.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I just think Apple is legally wrong. I own devices from both and have no
interest other than fairness and the public good. So when I say Apple is being a
jerk I mean that in the best sense. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
