Actually I think the two month ban hasn't really prevented
anyone (who really wants one) from getting it. Especially if
you live near the border. A trip to Canada with a purchase,
that you put to use, means they can't prevent you from keeping
it. This would not be a gift, or illegal contraband, like
drugs or something either.
The truth is they're not going to go into everybody's home who
has one and take them away from them. They did that with Sony
PS3's in the Netherlands and it cost the government dearly in
getting them returned properly.
A local sales ban only really affects local retailers. Who
lose out to even devices purchased offshore and shipped in
from outside the country too. That's what they saw happen in
Australia. Sales Bans only really hurt local retailers. While
only making it mildly more difficult for consumers to buy
these banned items from somewhere else! [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
