no HDMI
connector, no USB cable in box to connect to my USB
flash devices, and
no
ability to transfer files back and forth between my Linux
boxes and the
device. I would really like something like it, with HDMI, SD
slot, that I
could dual boot with Lubuntu, and Android, with both fully
encrypted (the
whole device encrypted), to run all my local apps with Lubuntu
that I
Xoom with a custom ROM might fill the
bill.
The original Xoom, not the Xoom FE nor the Xoom 2, nor the other
Xoom
that Motorola produces.
I'd also suggest the WiFi version over the 3G or
4G version. (Whilst
Verizon towers are "everywhere", custom ROMS don't always
play nicely
with either 3G or 4G, so skipping that "feature" is no less, when
one
intends to only use custom ROMS.)
Another downside is that neither
the USB cable nor HDMI cable are
included. You have to order then
individually, and pay a pretty penny for
them. On the gripping hand, Motorola
has had those parts, and others, on
sale for the past two or so months. That
might be a stock
reduction/clearance sale, and once they are sold out, that is
it. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
